Bloody Mary Mix Off Competition
Mixology Group, the team behind the success of last September’s fantastically successful festival ‘Brighton Mix-Off’ are now putting together a month-long competition to find the best Bloody Mary in Brighton.
Teaming up with Belvedere Vodka, Eager Juices and UrbanBar cocktail equipment the team will scour Brighton & Hove to find the tastiest Bloody Mary, encouraging entries from as many Brighton venues as possible.
There is no place quite like Brighton for a Sunday culture of eating and drinking, and no cocktail is more readily associated with lazy Sundays in your favourite pub or bar than the Bloody Mary.
Mixology Group are looking forward to an extremely high level of interest from both competitors and drinkers alike as the battle commences in March 2012, culminating in a nail-biting final on Saturday 7 April at the Big Sussex Market and Live Food Show.
How it works
Throughout February every bar in Brighton and Hove will get the chance to enter their own recipe using Belvedere Vodka, and Eager Tomato Juice. As far as rules go – that’s it! Entrants can use as much or as little of whatever they like to augment their recipe and battle for the crown.
Throughout March, the people of Brighton and Hove will be asked to vote for their favourite recipes which, of course, will be made available at their pubs, bars and restaurants across the city for customers to delight in.
At the end of the month, the top 15 recipes will be hailed as the shortlist, and an expert panel of Bloody Mary tasters will descend upon the venues in question to meet the creator and taste their beverage. This phase will see 15 whittled down to 5, and these final five will compete LIVE on stage at 5pm on Saturday 7 April in the Corn Exchange for the title.
How BARTENDERS enter…
The competition is now open, and bartenders can enter their drinks on the www.cocktailmixoff.com website, where they will go onto the database and be on display for all to see.
Those wishing to enter will need to provide a photograph of their drink, and then to fill in details of where they are working and a little about their inspiration, alongside their original recipe, using Belvedere Vodka and Eager Tomato Juice.
The next step is to get promoting your own recipe and try to gain as many votes as possible!
How THE PUBLIC can get involved
From the beginning of March, the public can go to www.cocktailmixoff.com, check out the bars and pubs that are taking part, and browse the recipes on offer.
Keep your eyes peeled for the ’Mix-Off’ sign displayed atop your favourite bar too, as this will mean you have a home favourite to get behind in the voting stage of the competition.
In these bars you will be able to order their original Belvedere ‘Bloody Mary’ and text your vote directly to us if theirs is the one for you.
How we choose our winner
The public will get the chance to have their final taste of the five top recipes and cast their deciding votes at the Mix Off stall at the Big Sussex Market on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 April. The winner will be selected by this public vote and they will be announced on the stage of the Live Food Show in the Corn Exchange at 5pm that evening.
The prizes
For the best Bloody Mary the winner will be awarded a bar kit from Urban Bar; and the glory of being crowned ‘Brighton’s Best Bloody Mary 2012’ and becoming the official Bloody Mary recipe of the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival for the year.
One of the public voters gets the chance to win a ‘Beginners Cocktail and Mixology Course’ hosted by Mixology Group at their industry-leading Mixology School.
